No carefully posed photo here! This is John caught in the act of thinking about where to put the next instrument.

Construction of John Foy's quick-build RV-8 is progressing nicely, with the engine installation complete & the instruments now going into place on the panel.
John decided to go with analog instruments for simplicity & readability.
The largest of the panel will be removable into the cockpit for accessibilty. Also featured is an interesting power control panel which takes the place of circuit breakers.

Close-up of the instrument panel under construction & a view of John's solution to the long control stick problem.

Although this is a new RV-8 project, the photo will give you an idea of some of the same type of work that went into building the FoyBoy-5 RV6A. I guess he knows where all those cables go because the RV-6 FoyBoy-5 works perfectly.

Standing on it's own two feet.
Here the tail section is being suspended from the ceiling.
I'm not sure if the engine is mounted or not in this photo.
Something has to be holding that cowling in place.
At any rate, the cowling didn't stay there very long. Too much work to be done to leave it in place.

This is not the RV-8 pictured above, it's John's RV-6A, The FoyBoy-5.
This is the result of a lot of hard work We know the RV-8 will reflect the same degree of quality when it is completed.

I just wanted to show this picture here just in case anyone has any doubts whether or not John will ever finish the RV-8.
John says he may sell the Foyboy5 when the "8" is finished.
Hummm! -- I wonder if my wife would let me sell the house?
Now let's see -- we could always get a camper, and ,,,,,, Aww -- yes dear ,,, I'll forget it.

December 20 - 2000 Progress report
foy-rv8-1 12-20-00.jpg Now it's really starting to take shape here.
I think John may be getting anxious to see some air beneath those wings.

baggage door was a real bugger but it's done and on to the end."

This is the FoyBoy-6 (RV-8) at its first fly-in - - out. John flew it over to Gatesville for their fund raiser on April 14th, 2001. The airplane has about ten-fifteen hours on it now. John is waiting until he gets all the required preliminary hours run off before he paints it.
Foy-RV 8 paint job 016.jpg And finally on January 15th, 2002 John sent me these photos.
It's hard to believe that this little beauty is the same one shown in the photos above.
