Jim Skinner and Charles Chesnut have pooled their resources and are building a Zodiac XL by Zenith.

THe Zenith Zodiac is a two place side-by-side LSA ready sport plane that has really gotten some attention lately. They have a nice looking design and they offer a quick build kit that seems to be a reasonable option for those of us who live under the constraints of retirement (or self imposed -read wives) budgets.

Canopy is mounted and up, Instruments are installed. This thing is beginning to look like an airplane. June 2006.
The glass instruments in the panel are from Dynon Avionics, take a look here.

Charles said they hope they can have it flying by Sept. 2006. The red gas can and the paint bucket are just for a little balast. This is a Tri-gear or nose-wheel airplane. It depends on having the weight of the engine to hold the tail up off the ground.

Another view, Canopy down, Landing gear is installed and the tail feathers are on. You can see the slot for the main wing spar attachments just in front of the gear leg. You can see by the picture below these guys are really making some impressive progress.

Here's apicture of what the airplane will look like when they're finished. I don't know if Jim and Charles have planed for a paint scheme but this one looks pretty good to me.
