Experimental Aircraft Association,

Chapter 59 History

Chapter 59 of the Experimental Aircraft Association has a long, active and proud history.

Chapter 59, Waco Texas, received it's Charter from the National Experimental Aircraft Association on April 1st, 1959. The EAA at that time was Head quartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This of course places Chapter 59 among the oldest of the original Chapter organizations of the EAA
A list of the original Charter members and a scanned image of the original Charter Certificate is available on our Charter page.

There are a set of plaques hanging on the wall of our headquarters with the names of each of our Chapter 59 members who has successfully completed the construction or re-construction of an airplane. Each name is engraved on a brass plate showing the persons name, his or her airplane type, and the year in which the project was completed. Inspite of the fact that this tradition was not started until around 1981 there are currently seventy four, (74) names on those plaques. We expect to be able to add at least two more during the calendar year 2000.

There is a list of names of the members who have successfully built or restored an airplane and the type of aircraft that they built on our Member's Projects page.

This is truly an impressive list, please check it out.
