Chapter 59's first ever Wild Blue Wonders (Practice) Competition
May 8th, 2004

Chapter 59's first ever WBW practice session for the real deal in June turned out to be a mixed success.
The WBW competition held on June 5th, 2004 will be the first ever WBW Southwest Regional Competition
Today's mixed results were in the fact that we expected more teams and schools to attend, but it was a success with the two or three teams that did make an Appearance.

If you missed this event, shame on you, - you missed a lot of fun.

I'm still waiting for the final results of the competition and the actual head count on the students making up the teams.

Prez Emmette Craver provided the days briefing.

Each team presented a skit based on some event or
something related to aviation.

Next came the check ride knowledge test.

Here they developed a flight plan based on weather and a starting and destination information.

Winning flight time was just under 20-seconds by the young lady twisting her prop getting ready for launch.

To All Chapter 59 members
I want to thank all of you who came to the practice competition today.
We had two over sized teams rather than the 9 teams we had planned for. This gave us a great opportunity to turn this into a grand training period. I think the schools represented today have a much better idea just what to do to get ready for the competition now.
In fact. One of the teachers ask me to come help with the wind drift triangles. I knew she did two hours after school each Wednesday and Thursday.
I ask her which day she wanted my help. She said "my team has decided they need to meet every night after school for the rest of the school year to be ready". Just come whenever you want we will be there every night.
My special thanks to Dale Breedlove for his great job with the food. I can give him a number and then forget about the food. That really helps.
We trained some great judges at this one. We will need all the trained judges and helpers we can get to handle nine teams for the competition June 5th. Thanks again I can not name all the helpers. You know who you are and that your effort is really appreciated.
