Awards Banquet review
A few notes from the BOD meeting

A reminder about our first Saturday pancake breakfast which is scheduled for March 1st. Our breakfast is served between 8:00am and 10:00am tomorrow.

Come for a great breakfast with pancakes and sausage cooked by pancake chef extraordinaire, Dale Breedlove and his band of merry helpers, and the share the camaraderie of this wonderful EAA Chapter. The President being in town might limit the fly in customers, but I'm sure this will be it's usual great event in any case.

Our awards banquet held on Feb 19th was a great evening with over 50 people in attendance, which is the best attendance for many years. A very informative and entertaining address was given by Mr. Wilton Lanning on the history of aviation in Waco, which turns out to be much more extensive than many know about.
Sadly the event was marred by the traffic accident which claimed the life of long time member, Joe Stahl.
Mike McMains will have a tribute to Joe in the next issue of the Grapevine.

The Board of Director's meeting held on Feb 21st will be reported in full in the Grapevine when the official minutes are published. For your information in the meantime however, the Board approved expenditure to extend the air-conditioning coverage into the kitchen area which I am sure will be appreciated by the hard working lunch bunch crew come the next few months. In addition, some funds were approved to continue the work upstairs on the museum project. A "low and slow" event for early June at Mexia to coincide with the completion of airport improvements there was discussed and Ron McKinley will coordinate the Chapter's involvement in this event. Lastly, a suggested format for our third Tuesday of the month programs was discussed and approved. We thank Kenny Grisham and a small band of members for their work on this important aspect of the Chapter's activities, and I am sure you will be impressed as these meetings unfold over the coming months.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, and wish you tail winds both going and coming.
